Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to Umpqua Connect. A daily devotional podcast sent out from the beautiful Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon.

Today is Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

Thanks for your patience. I took a few days hiatus from the podcast, but am back again. This is the 292nd episode. I love doing these, but sometimes need a little break.

A friend of mine, Mark, shared this text with me the other day. I love it. It's a great reminder of what God gives to us. We really have nothing to give until God gives it to us.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says:

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

So we go through hard times. And God comforts us. He gets us through, and even gives us peace in the storm. But then, because we have been through stuff, and God has given us comfort. Now we are in a place to help others.

A friend of mine once said, "God never wastes our pain." I think there is so much truth in that statement. God doesn't cause pain. Sin causes pain. But then He takes what we go through, brings us healing and comfort. Then using with those very experiences that brought us pain, He uses the lessons we learn to then help someone else through us.

What the devil meant for evil, God changes and spins for good. And now we can help others.

That's pretty sweet. What an amazing God.

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Thanks for connecting.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow
