Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to Umpqua Connect. A daily devotional podcast sent out from the beautiful Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon.
Today is Saturday, February 13, 2021.
The Bible is full of good advice on how to live life. When we open it up and read it, we gain wisdom, and understand God and His ways better.
But sometimes it would be nice to have a little more direction. Maybe I have two good options to chose for my future. Both honor God. But I don't really know which one is better, and I need guidance. I've done all I know how to do to align my life with God's ways, but which good option should I choose?
It turns out God thought of this too. He knew we would need specific life guidance. Beyond general principles of how to live life, we would need step by step direction.
So He gives us His Holy Spirit. So not only do we get all the wisdom contained in the Bible, but God also actively steps into our lives and gives us individual guidance if we let Him.
Luke 11:11-13 says:
11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for[f] a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
It's simply about asking. God, I need Your guidance here. Show me which way to go. And He will! I've had this happen over and over. I ask for guidance on an issue, and He shows me. Sometimes it's a strong impression to move a certain direction. Other times a friend gives advice that just makes sense. Or the circumstances close so everything points one way.
However the Spirit arranges things in our lives to show us the way, it all ends up showing the way forward. And God is as happy to give us the Holy Spirit as a good father is happy to give their child food.
He's just waiting for us to ask.
Do you have something you need guidance on today? Just ask Him to guide you. He will. He's a good Father.
Thanks for connecting.
May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow
