Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to Umpqua Connect. A daily devotional podcast sent out from the beautiful Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon.

Today is Friday, February 12, 2021.

Yesterday we talked about love as a foundation of who God is, and a foundation to healthy relationships. But what is love?

As the passage continues from yesterday, the Apostle Paul begins to describe love. But rather than trying to give a precise definition, he instead describes what love DOES.

I Corinthians 13:4-7 says:

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

And perhaps that's the best way to describe love. It's not just a feeling -- although it is that. Rather it is this deep principle of how we choose to interact with others. There are times when the feelings might not be there. But that's okay, because love, God's kind of love, is defined by what it does.

That's what love is. That's what love does.

Thanks for connecting.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow
