Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to Umpqua Connect. A daily devotional podcast sent out from the beautiful Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon.

Today is Wednesday, January 27, 2021

Imagine you are Moses and you've led a million people through a desert for forty years. You know the end is near, and you will have to hand the job over to someone else. It's been a crazy forty years. God has worked miracles, and through your leadership and patience, now a disorganized, scared band of slaves have become God's people. People of faith ready to move into the Promised Land.

What would you say to the next guy? The guy that's taking your job? After forty years of exceptional leadership with very few blunders, what could you pass on?

Wouldn't you love to have been there when Moses addressed Joshua the next leader of Israel? I wonder what he said?

Oh, well, we have that. Here it is.

Deuteronomy 31:7-8 says:

7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. 8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Simple advice that makes all the difference. Be strong and courageous. God is with you. He's not going to leave you. So go forward. Trust He's got your back, and be strong and courageous.

Joshua was strong and courageous, and God backed him up.

What does God want to do with you? Maybe He is just waiting to do more if you are willing to lean on Him. Know that He won't leave you, and be strong and courageous.

Thanks for connecting.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow
