Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to Umpqua Connect. A daily devotional podcast sent out from the beautiful Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon.

If we realize there is a spiritual war going on behind the scenes between the forces of good and the forces of evil, the world we live in suddenly makes a lot more sense.

The devil, or Satan was once an angel in heaven who rebelled. Other angels in heaven joined him, and eventually they were cast out of heaven.

Satan's accusation is that God is not fair, that God's ways and His laws are not the best way to live. Their rebellion has caused a lot of pain. But if God destroyed them right away, the universe would serve God out of fear, afraid to step out of line or God will get you.

God is a God of love. He doesn't want people or angels to serve Him out of fear. He wants angels and people to love Him. God is all about love.

So He is letting sin run it's course so the whole universe can see the results. Then God can destroy the devil and his angels, and everyone can see, "Yes, that had to be done to stop the pain."

In our text today the Apostle Peter talks about this battle. And gives us hope that even though we are caught in the cross-fire, God will give us the strength we need.

1 Peter 5:6-10 says:

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

We have no power on our own, but God will give us all the power we need to resist evil. Then someday it will be over. God will deal with Satan. Justice will be done, and we will live lives of peace.

Thanks for connecting.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow
