Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to Umpqua Connect. A daily devotional podcast sent out from the beautiful Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon.
Today is Friday, January 23, 2021
This morning's devotional is a Psalm of David, the warrior king. He write this one for the Director of Music, so we know there was a tune that went to it. I'd love to know what that tune was, but we don't know. We are just left with the words.
Psalms 11 talks about what to do when wicked people attack. Do you run or fight? The conclusion? You don't have to run, because there is a God who watches out for the righteous.
Psalms 11:1-11
In the Lord I take refuge;
How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain?
2 For, behold, the wicked bend the bow,
They have [a]set their arrow on the string
To shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations are destroyed,
What can the righteous do?”
4 The Lord is in His holy temple; the [b]Lord’s throne is in heaven;
His eyes see, His eyelids test the sons of mankind.
5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked,
And His soul hates one who loves violence.
6 He will rain [c]coals of fire upon the wicked,
And brimstone and burning wind will be the portion of their cup.
7 For the Lord is righteous, He loves [d]righteousness;
The upright will see His face.
Even in the midst of evil, we can have confidence God is with us. He sees. He knows. He will defend His own.
Thanks for connecting.
May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow
