Good Morning! I'm your host Lonnie Wibberding, and you are listening to Umpqua Connect. A daily devotional podcast sent out from the beautiful Umpqua Valley of Southern Oregon.

Today is Tuesday, June 16, 2020

Life. It is beautiful when you think about it. God has created us, then given us freedom. We have the ability, to a large degree, to choose how we want to live. We can fall into a comfortable routine, or bring out the creativity God has given us and go on new adventures. It is our choice.

Of course there are some limits, but there are more options than there are limits.

Our proverb today from Proverbs 16:3 says:

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and He will establish your plans.

God gives us an amazing freedom of choice on the kind of life we choose to live. But here in this wisdom for the day, Solomon says, "Whatever it is you choose to do with your life, commit it to the Lord, and He will establish your plans." It's great to live a life of adventure. It's even better to invite God into your plans.

Sometimes we are afraid to ask God into our plans because we are afraid He will change them on us. But here is the thing I've learned about God. He never changes good plans. He may enhance them and make them better. When we invite God to be with our plans and edit them as needed, He only changes bad plans. He wants our good. He wants us to be happy. So He is not going to take away the good stuff.

But to have someone along who is willing rescue you from the bad ideas. That's really cool. It creates a freedom.

Because it puts us in a place where we can dream and adventure. And if what we are planning would hurt us, we have a Heavenly Father who is looking out for us. And really that's more freedom than if we just went through life alone.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,

and He will establish your plans.

Thanks for connecting.

May God Bless your day. We'll talk again tomorrow
